What is Surface Cleaning?

"Surface Cleaning" is the process of removing organics (algae, mold, lichen, etc.) from a flat surface using a combination of a chemical treatment to kill the organisms, and a surface cleaner machine and power rinse to remove them. Over time, concrete, brick, stone, and mortar will show signs of discoloration from the accumulation of organics. Surface cleaning helps to, not only, improve the aesthetic, but makes surfaces less slippery. This is why keeping your walkways and driveways free of organic buildup is so important. Especially for businesses with a lot of foot traffic.

We utilize a 4 step process to

Step 1: Apply chemical treatment to the area being cleaned and allow it to dwell.

Step 2: Use commercial grade surface cleaner over the area to extract dirt and organics from the pores of the surface

Step 3: Power rinse to remove all dirty water from the area.

Step 4: Apply chemical post treatment to delay the return of organics and minimize streaking.

Below is a good example of what happens when concrete is cleaned without using chemicals to kill the organics and/or the utilization of faulty equipment and incomplete process.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I SURFACE CLEAN?

In general, and for standard residential or commercial properties with minimal foot traffic, it is recommended to surface clean your main walkways and parking areas every 12-18 months. Businesses that experience a lot of foot traffic should consider surface cleaning every 6-12 months to keep maintenance costs lower and keep walkways safe and free of organic buildup.

The local chemical companies we have purchased bleach from are
